Our Core Values

At St. John Paul II Catholic Schools, our core values reflect who we are and what we strive to become. They guide how we learn, serve, lead, and support one another as we form students academically, spiritually, and personally.

Community

We build positive relationships through teamwork, communication, and respect. Our community is rooted in human dignity and the belief that we are all sons and daughters of God.

Excellence

We form good habits that lead to virtue and encourage students to use their gifts fully. We are called to live lives worthy of the Gospel by striving for excellence in all we do.

Learning

We foster a love of learning and the pursuit of truth about God and all creation. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to grow as thoughtful, responsible individuals.

Faith

We nurture the gift of faith and encourage students to live it, grow in it, and share it with others through God’s grace and daily witness.

Education in Virtue

About the Program

At St. John Paul II Catholic Schools, our mission to inspire virtue and excellence comes to life through our Education in Virtue program. This system-wide initiative helps students grow in character, faith, and discipleship by teaching virtues as practical expressions of Catholic living.

Developed by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, the program is rooted in the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas and is taught to students from Little Deacons through grade 12. Each week, students across all grade levels focus on the same virtue and learn about saints who exemplified it through their lives.

Students explore the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity as well as the cardinal virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. Through prayer, reflection, discussion, and daily practice, students learn how to recognize and live these virtues both in and outside the classroom.

Education in Virtue provides a common language for students, families, teachers, and staff, helping our entire school community grow together in faith, character, and holiness.
