The Deacons are excited to by adding two Shanley Alums to lead their Boys Tennis Program!  Charlie Perhus ’18 has been hired as the Boys Tennis Coach for next Fall. Perhus will fill the shoes of his Prep Coach Tony Walz, who retired after 13 years at the helm.

Perhus had this to say. “It is a great honor to coach the team I played for in my younger years.  Having been involved in not only Tennis but, Choir, Art and Student Council I am excited to return to Shanley and build on the foundation that Coach Walz has formed.  This Summer I can’t wait to get out and watch some of our team members play and hit the ground running in August.  Go Deacons!”

Charlie is a Promotional Consultant for S&S Promotional Group in Fargo.

Perhus will be joined by a familiar face, his former doubles tennis partner Ben Traynor ’18. Ben is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and works as a Sales Rep for Cole Papers.

The combination of Perhus and Traynor made State twice as individuals, and once as doubles.

Rounding out the staff is returning Assistant Coach Dave Drenth, who was Coach Walz’s right hand and will continue to mentor the new coaches.
